  • Ibuprofen, naproxen, and all NSAIDs (Advil, Aleve, Motrin)
  • Fish oil, omega-3 supplements
  • Vitamin E supplements

  • Muscle relaxants or benzodiazepines
  • Any new medications started in the past 30 days

Starting 24 Hours Before Your Appointment

  • Stay well hydrated

Day of Appointment

  • Arrive with a clean face. No makeup, moisturizer, or SPF on the treatment area.
  • Eat a light meal before your appointment. Do not come fasting.
  • Avoid caffeine the morning of your appointment if you are sensitive to it (can increase anxiety and heart rate during treatment)
  • Let us know if you feel unwell, have a cold sore developing, or have any skin irritation in the treatment area. We may need to reschedule.
  • Wear comfortable clothing. Avoid turtlenecks or anything tight around the neck and face.

What to Tell Us Before We Begin

  • Any new medical diagnoses since your last visit
  • Any new medications, supplements, or vaccines in the past 4 weeks
  • If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
  • If you have had any neurotoxin treatment elsewhere in the past 3 months
  • If you have ever had a reaction to neurotoxin treatment

Post-Treatment Instructions

Immediately After Treatment (First 4 Hours)

  • Stay upright. Do not lie down flat for 4 hours after treatment.
  • Do not rub, press, or massage the treated areas. This can cause the toxin to migrate to unintended muscles.
  • Do not touch your face unless washing gently.
  • Avoid hats, headbands, or anything that presses on the treated area for the remainder of the day.
  • Minor redness, small bumps at injection sites, and mild swelling are normal and typically resolve within 30–60 minutes.

First 24 Hours

  • No strenuous exercise. Increased blood flow and heat can affect toxin placement.
  • No alcohol.
  • No facials, facial massage, or any pressure on the treated area.
  • No makeup on injection sites for the remainder of the day. You may apply makeup gently the following morning.
  • No extreme heat: avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, or prolonged hot showers.
  • No lying face down (including massage tables).
  • You may apply a cold pack gently to the area if you have swelling or discomfort. Do not press firmly.

First 2 Weeks

  • Avoid other facial treatments in the treated area including microneedling, laser, chemical peels, and ultrasound devices for 2 weeks minimum.
  • Wear SPF 30+ daily. UV exposure does not affect the toxin but protects your overall skin health and results.
  • Do not have dental procedures within 2 weeks if you received treatment near the lower face or masseter.

When to Expect Results

  • Botox and Jeuveau: Initial movement reduction begins at 3–5 days. Full results visible at 10–14 days.
  • Daxxify: Initial onset 24-48 hours. Full results at 10–14 days. Duration is longer — typically 5-6 months** for most patients, compared to 3–4 months for Botox and Jeuveau.
  • Do not judge your results before day 14. If you feel your results are uneven or insufficient at the 2-week mark, contact us to schedule a complimentary follow-up assessment.

Normal Side Effects

These are expected and resolve on their own:

  • Small red dots or bumps at injection sites (resolve within 1–2 hours)
  • Mild bruising (resolves within 5–10 days)
  • Mild headache after forehead treatment (typically resolves within 24 hours — Tylenol is fine)
  • Mild tenderness at injection sites for 24–48 hours

Contact Us Immediately If You Experience

Pre & Post Treatment Instructions - Microneedling

      Pre-Treatment Instructions — Microneedling

Starting 2 Weeks Before Your Appointment

      Stop the following:

      • Isotretinoin (Accutane) — Must be discontinued for a minimum of 6 months before microneedling. Do not treat active Accutane patients.
      • Prescription retinoids (tretinoin, tazarotene) — Stop 5–7 days before treatment.
      • Over-the-counter retinol — Stop 5 days before treatment.
      • AHA/BHA exfoliants (glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid) — Stop 5 days before treatment.
      • Waxing, threading, or depilatory creams in the treatment area — Stop 1 week before treatment.
      • Electrolysis in the treatment area — Stop 1 week before treatment.

Notify us before your appointment if you have:

      • Active acne breakouts in the treatment area. We may need to adjust the treatment plan or reschedule.
      • Active cold sores or a history of HSV. Prophylactic antiviral medication may be recommended.
      • Any skin infection, open wounds, or rash in the treatment area.
      • A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.
      • Any blood clotting disorders or active anticoagulation therapy.
      • Any autoimmune skin conditions (lupus, psoriasis, eczema) in the treatment area.
      • A history of radiation therapy to the treatment area.
      • Any metal implants in or near the treatment area (relevant for RF microneedling).
      • Recent cosmetic filler in the treatment area within the past 2 weeks.

Avoid the following starting 7 days before:

      • Aspirin and NSAIDs (Advil, Aleve, Motrin) unless prescribed — these may increase bruising risk.
      • Fish oil, vitamin E, and other blood-thinning supplements.
      • Alcohol within 48 hours before treatment.

Starting 1 Week Before Your Appointment

      • Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds. Come to your appointment with untanned skin. An active tan increases the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), especially in Fitzpatrick III and above.
      • Avoid spray tans — They must be completely faded before treatment.
      • Do not wax or use hair removal products in the treatment area.

      Day of Appointment

      • Arrive with a completely clean face. No makeup, moisturizer, SPF, or other topical products.
      • Do not apply numbing cream at home unless specifically instructed. We will apply topical anesthetic in the office.
      • Stay well hydrated the day before and the morning of your appointment.
      • Eat before your appointment.
      • Let us know if you are feeling unwell, have a cold sore developing, or have any new breakouts or skin irritation.
      • Wear comfortable clothing. Avoid turtlenecks or anything tight around the neck if the neck is being treated.
      • Avoid scheduling microneedling within 1 week of a major event. Redness and mild skin texture changes are normal in the first few days.

What to Tell Us Before We Begin

      • Your current skincare routine and all active ingredients you are using.
      • Any new medications or supplements in the past 30 days.
      • Any vaccines received in the past 2 weeks.
      • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
      • Any history of skin cancer in the treatment area.
      • Any previous cosmetic procedures in the past 4 weeks.

      Post-Treatment Instructions — Microneedling

      What to Expect After Treatment

      Day 1–2:

      • Redness and warmth similar to a mild to moderate sunburn. This is normal.
      • Mild swelling, especially around the eyes if the periorbital area was treated.
      • Skin may feel tight, dry, and sensitive to touch.
      • Tiny pinpoint bleeding or bruising at some treatment points is normal, especially at higher needle depths.
      • Mild peeling or flaking may begin on day 2–3.

      Day 3–5:

      • Redness fades to pink. Skin begins to feel less sensitive.
      • Peeling and flaking continues as old skin sheds and new skin emerges.
      • Do not pick, pull, or exfoliate peeling skin. Let it shed naturally.
      • Skin may look temporarily worse before it looks better. This is normal.

      Day 5–7:

      • Most redness and peeling resolves.
      • Skin begins to look smoother and more radiant.
      • Full collagen remodeling results develop over 4–12 weeks.

Immediate Post-Treatment Care (First 24 Hours)

      Do:

      • Apply only the gentle, provider-approved products given to you at your appointment.
      • Use a clean pillowcase tonight.
      • Sleep on your back if possible.
      • Keep skin cool and comfortable. A gentle cool mist or cool water is fine.
      • Drink plenty of water.

      Do not:

      • Apply makeup of any kind for the first 24 hours minimum.
      • Touch your face with unwashed hands.
      • Use any active skincare ingredients — no retinol, vitamin C, AHA/BHA, or high-concentration niacinamide.
      • Exercise or do anything that causes heavy sweating for 24–48 hours.
      • Use hot water on your face — cool to lukewarm only.
      • Go into a sauna, steam room, or hot tub.
      • Apply ice directly to the skin. If needed, use a cold pack wrapped in a clean cloth.

Skincare Protocol — First 7 Days

      Cleanser:

      • Use only a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Recommended options include CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, Vanicream Gentle Cleanser, or a provider-recommended cleanser.
      • Wash gently with fingertips only. No washcloths, brushes, or exfoliating tools.
      • Use cool to lukewarm water only. Pat dry with a clean, soft towel. Do not rub.

      Moisturizer:

      • Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer 2–3 times daily or as needed for comfort.
      • Recommended options include CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, Aquaphor (thin layer for very dry areas), or a provider-recommended product.
      • Hyaluronic acid serum under moisturizer is appropriate and encouraged starting day 2.

      SPF:

      • Apply SPF 30 or higher every morning starting day 2. Reapply every 2 hours if outdoors.
      • Use a mineral SPF (zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) for the first week — gentler on a compromised skin barrier.
      • No sun exposure without SPF. UV exposure after microneedling significantly increases PIH risk.

Active Ingredients — When to Reintroduce:

      Ingredient When to Reintroduce
      Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) Day 7 minimum
      Retinol (OTC) Day 7–10
Tretinoin / prescription retinoid Day 10–14
AHA / BHA exfoliants Day 7–10
      Niacinamide Day 5–7
      Benzoyl peroxide Day 7–10
      Physical exfoliation Day 14 minimum

When in doubt, wait. Reintroducing actives too early is the most common cause of irritation and delayed healing after microneedling.

      Activity Restrictions

      Activity Restriction Period
Strenuous exercise / heavy sweating 48–72 hours
Swimming (pool, lake, ocean) 72 hours minimum
Sauna / steam room / hot tub 72 hours minimum
Tanning bed / prolonged sun exposure 2 weeks minimum
      Spray tan 2 weeks
      Facial massage 2 weeks
Waxing or hair removal in treatment area 2 weeks

Other Treatments — Minimum Wait Times After Microneedling

      Treatment Minimum Wait Time
      Chemical peel 2 weeks
      Laser or IPL 2 weeks
Injectables (toxin or filler) 2 weeks
RF microneedling (repeat session) 4–6 weeks
Standard microneedling (repeat session) 4 weeks
      Dermaplaning 2 weeks

      When to Call Us

Call the office or send a message if you experience any of the following:

      • Redness or swelling that is getting significantly worse after day 3 instead of improving.
      • Signs of infection: increasing warmth, pain, yellow or green discharge, or fever.
      • A cold sore or blister developing in the treatment area.
      • Severe itching or hives (possible allergic reaction to a topical product).
      • Significant hyperpigmentation developing — dark patches appearing in the treatment area.
      • Any other symptom that concerns you.

If you experience severe swelling, difficulty breathing, or signs of anaphylaxis, call 911 immediately.

      Your Treatment Series

Optimal results typically require a series of treatments. Your provider will recommend a personalized plan based on your skin concerns and goals.

      General guidelines:

      • Skin rejuvenation / texture / tone: 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart.
      • Acne scarring: 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
      • Stretch marks or body treatments: 4–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
      • Maintenance: 1–2 sessions per year after completing the initial series.

Results develop gradually. Maximum collagen remodeling occurs at 6–12 weeks after each session. Do not judge your final result before that window has passed.

Pre & Post Treatment Instructions - Dermal Fillers

        Pre-Treatment Instructions — Dermal Fillers

Starting 7–10 Days Before Your Appointment

        Avoid the following:

        • Aspirin and aspirin-containing products (unless prescribed — do not stop prescribed aspirin without consulting your doctor)
        • Ibuprofen, naproxen, and all NSAIDs (Advil, Aleve, Motrin)
        • Fish oil, omega-3 supplements
        • Vitamin E supplements
        • Ginkgo biloba, garlic supplements, turmeric supplements
        • Alcohol (especially within 48 hours before your appointment)
        • Retinol and retinoids on the face (starting 3 days before)

Notify us before your appointment if you take:

        • Prescription blood thinners
        • Immunosuppressant medications
        • Any new medications or supplements started in the past 30 days
        • Any history of cold sores (HSV) — especially if getting lip filler. We may prescribe prophylactic antiviral medication.

Starting 2 Weeks Before Your Appointment

        • No dental procedures within 2 weeks before or after filler treatment. Dental work introduces bacteria into the bloodstream and increases infection and biofilm risk around filler.

        Day of Appointment

        • Arrive with a clean face. No makeup, moisturizer, or SPF on the treatment area.
        • Eat before your appointment. Do not come fasting.
        • Stay well hydrated.
        • Let us know immediately if you have any active cold sores, skin infection, rash, or irritation in the treatment area. We will reschedule.
        • Let us know if you have had any illness, dental work, or new medications in the past 2 weeks.

What to Tell Us Before We Begin

        • Any previous filler treatments — where, what product, and when
        • Any history of permanent filler (silicone, PMMA) in any facial area
        • Any history of cold sores
        • Any history of keloid scarring
        • If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
        • Any autoimmune conditions or recent illness
        • Any history of allergic reaction to filler or lidocaine

          Post-Treatment Instructions — Dermal Fillers

          Immediately After Treatment

          • Some swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising at injection sites is completely normal. This is expected and not a sign of a problem.
          • Lips will be significantly more swollen than the final result. Give it 2 full weeks before evaluating your outcome.
          • Do not massage or press on treated areas unless specifically instructed to do so by your provider.
          • Apply a cold pack gently to reduce swelling. Do not press firmly. 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off.

          First 24 Hours

          • No strenuous exercise — increased circulation and heat can worsen swelling and bruising.
          • No alcohol.
          • No extreme heat — saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, hot yoga, prolonged hot showers.
          • No makeup on injection sites for the remainder of the day.
          • Sleep elevated if you have significant swelling. An extra pillow under your head helps.
          • Do not lie face down.
          • Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated area.

          First 2 Weeks

          • No dental procedures for 2 weeks after treatment.
          • No facials, facial massage, microneedling, laser, chemical peels, or RF treatments in the treated area for 2 weeks minimum.
          • No extreme pressure on the face — avoid face-down massage, tight masks, or anything pressing on treated areas.
          • Wear SPF 30+ daily.
          • Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds.
          • Arnica gel or arnica supplements may help reduce bruising. Apply topically to bruised areas 2–3 times daily.

          Managing Swelling

          • Swelling peaks at 24–72 hours and then gradually improves.
          • Lip swelling can take 7–14 days to fully resolve.
          • Cheek and midface swelling typically resolves within 5–7 days.
          • If swelling is worsening after day 3, is accompanied by warmth, redness, or firmness, or you develop fever — contact us immediately.

          When to Call Us Immediately

Contact the practice immediately if you experience any of the following:

          • White or gray discoloration of the skin near the injection site
          • Skin that looks mottled, blotchy, or dusky (not normal bruising)
          • Pain that is worsening rather than improving after the first 24 hours
          • Any changes in vision — blurring, double vision, vision loss
          • Eye pain
          • Fever or chills
          • Increasing redness, warmth, or hardness at the injection site after day 3
          • Nodules or lumps appearing weeks after treatment

If you experience vision changes or eye pain, call 911 and go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Do not wait.

          Follow-Up

          • Schedule your 2-4week follow-up appointment to assess your results.
          • Final results are best evaluated at 4 weeks when all swelling has resolved.
          • Touch-up appointments should be scheduled no sooner than 2 weeks after initial treatment.

            Pre-Treatment Instructions — Sculptra

            • Aspirin and aspirin-containing products (unless prescribed)
            • Ibuprofen, naproxen, and all NSAIDs
            • Fish oil, omega-3 supplements
            • Vitamin E supplements
            • Alcohol (especially within 48 hours before)
            • Retinol or retinoids on the face (starting 3 days before)

Notify us before your appointment if you:

            • Take prescription blood thinners or immunosuppressants
            • Have a history of keloid scarring or hypertrophic scarring
            • Have any active skin infection or inflammation
            • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
            • Have any autoimmune conditions

            Day of Appointment

            • Arrive with a clean face. No makeup or skincare products on treatment area.
            • Eat before your appointment.
            • Stay well hydrated — hydration supports the injection process and recovery.
            • Wear comfortable, loose clothing.

What to Know About Sculptra Before You Start

            • Sculptra is not a traditional filler. It works by stimulating your own collagen production over time.
            • Results develop gradually over 2–3 months.
            • Most patients require 2–3 treatment sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
            • You will not see dramatic immediate results. Some initial swelling from the injection fluid will be present but resolves within days — this is not your Sculptra result.
            • Final results can last 2 or more years.

            Post-Treatment Instructions — Sculptra

            Immediately After Treatment

            • Swelling, redness, and tenderness at injection sites is normal and expected.
            • You may see some initial volume from the injected fluid. This will resolve over the next few days as the water absorbs. This is not your Sculptra result.
            • Apply a cold pack gently to reduce swelling. 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off.

The 5-5-5 Massage Rule — This Is Required

Sculptra requires patient massage to prevent nodule formation. This is not optional.

Starting the day of treatment and continuing for 5 days:

            • Massage the treated area for 5 minutes

What to Know About Skinvive Before You Start

                • Skinvive is an intradermal HA micro-injection treatment designed to improve skin quality, hydration, and glow — not to add volume or lift.
                • Results include smoother texture, improved hydration, and a subtle luminosity.
                • Most patients see best results after 1–2 treatments.
                • Results last approximately 6 months. Maintenance treatments are recommended.
                • Some patients experience small papules (bumps) at injection sites that resolve within 1–2 weeks.

                Post-Treatment Instructions — Skinvive

                Immediately After Treatment

                • Small bumps or papules at injection sites are expected and normal. They resolve on their own within a few days to 2 weeks.
                • Mild redness, swelling, and tenderness is normal.
                • Do not massage or press on the treated area.
                • Apply cold pack gently if needed for comfort.

                First 24 Hours

                • No strenuous exercise.
                • No alcohol.
                • No extreme heat — saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms.
                • No makeup on treated areas for the remainder of the day.
                • Do not touch or rub the treated area.

                  First 2 Weeks

                  • No facials, microneedling, laser, or RF treatments in the treated area.
                  • No makeup directly over visible papules until they resolve.
                  • Wear SPF 30+ daily.
                  • Keep skin gently moisturized. Use a fragrance-free gentle moisturizer.
                  • Avoid active skincare ingredients (retinol, AHA, BHA, vitamin C) for 5–7 days.

                  When to Expect Results

                  • Initial glow and hydration improvement: 2–4 weeks
                  • Full results: 4–6 weeks after treatment
                  • Duration: approximately 6 months

Pre & Post Treatment Instructions - Chemical Peels (SkinBetter Science AlphaRet 30 and 50)

                    Pre-Treatment Instructions — Chemical Peels

Starting 2 Weeks Before Your Appointment

                    Avoid the following:

                    • Retinol, retinoids, and prescription tretinoin (stop 5–7 days before your peel)
                    • AHA and BHA exfoliants (glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid — stop 5–7 days before)
                    • Benzoyl peroxide (stop 3 days before)
                    • Waxing, threading, or depilatory creams on the face (stop 2 weeks before)
                    • Laser, microneedling, or any other resurfacing treatments within 2 weeks before

Notify us before your appointment if you:

                    • Have used isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 12 months — chemical peels are contraindicated
                    • Have any active cold sores, skin infection, open wounds, or rash in the treatment area
                    • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
                    • Have a history of keloid scarring
                    • Have had radiation to the face
                    • Take any photosensitizing medications

Starting 2 Weeks Before (Skin Prep — Recommended)

                    • If you are not already using a retinoid or AHA, begin a gentle vitamin C serum and SPF routine to prime the skin
                    • Stay consistent with SPF 30+ daily. Sun-damaged, unprotected skin does not peel evenly.

                    Day of Appointment

                    • Arrive with a completely clean face. No makeup, moisturizer, SPF, or any skincare products.
                    • Do not work out the morning of your peel. Warm, flushed skin affects peel penetration.
                    • Stay well hydrated.
                    • Let us know if you have had any sun exposure or tanning within the past 2 weeks. We may need to adjust the peel strength.

What to Know About AlphaRet Peels Before You Start

                    • AlphaRet 30: A lighter peel appropriate for first-time peel patients, sensitive skin, and maintenance. Mild peeling, 1–3 days. Minimal downtime.
                    • AlphaRet 50: A medium-depth peel for patients with experience and tolerability. More significant peeling, 3–5 days. Plan for social downtime.
                    • Both peels combine lactic acid and retinoid technology to resurface, brighten, and stimulate collagen.
                    • Peeling is not always visible — results occur even without obvious peeling. Do not judge your results by how much you peel.

                    Post-Treatment Instructions — Chemical Peels

                    Immediately After Treatment

                    • Your skin will appear red, flushed, and feel warm or tight. This is expected.
                    • Do not apply any skincare products, makeup, or SPF for at least 4 hours unless directed by your provider.
                    • Do not touch or rub your face.
                    • Stay out of the sun completely for the remainder of the day.
                    • A cool compress may be applied gently for comfort.

                    Days 1–3

                    • Cleanse gently once or twice daily with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. No scrubbing.
                    • Moisturize with a gentle, fragrance-free barrier cream or hyaluronic acid serum. Keeping skin hydrated reduces discomfort and supports even peeling.
                    • Apply SPF 30+ every morning and reapply if going outside. This is non-negotiable during healing.
                    • No active skincare ingredients: no retinol, no AHA, no BHA, no vitamin C, no benzoyl peroxide.
                    • No makeup for the first 24 hours. Mineral makeup may be applied after 24 hours if tolerated.
                    • No strenuous exercise for 48 hours — sweat irritates healing skin.
                    • No extreme heat — saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, prolonged hot showers.

                    Days 3–7 (Peeling Phase)

                    • Peeling typically begins on days 3–5 and may continue through day 7.
                    • Do not pick, peel, or pull at flaking skin. Premature removal of peeling skin causes scarring and hyperpigmentation.
                    • Let skin shed naturally.
                    • Continue gentle cleans

Serving Gilbert & the East Valley

Frozen In Time Aesthetics is based in the heart of Historic Downtown Gilbert’s Heritage District, where clients pair a Botox visit with a stop at Liberty Market, Joe’s Real BBQ, Postino, or the weekend Gilbert Farmers Market beneath the iconic Water Tower — and never fight for parking, thanks to the free lot behind our building. Beyond downtown, we welcome clients from across Gilbert’s established neighborhoods, including Agritopia, Morrison Ranch, Power Ranch, Seville, Val Vista Lakes, and Layton Lakes, as well as families near Freestone Park, Cosmo Dog Park, and the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch.

Clients drive in from across the East Valley of Maricopa County — Mesa, Chandler, Queen Creek, Tempe, and San Tan Village — for appointments at our Downtown Gilbert studio. We don’t offer in-home visits, but we do travel for private events and parties, so bridal groups, birthdays, and girls’ nights can be hosted on location by arrangement.

Botox and Jeuveau last about 3 to 4 months, while Daxxify can last up to six. Every treatment is performed by board-certified nurse practitioner Alice Warner using genuine, freshly prepared product, with conservative dosing and transparent per-unit pricing. Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator that rebuilds your own collagen for gradual, natural-looking volume — a favorite among Gilbert clients who want subtle, long-lasting rejuvenation. Rather than filling instantly, Sculptra stimulates collagen over several weeks, restoring cheeks, temples, and facial contour. Most clients complete a short series of 3 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, with results that can last up to two years. At Frozen In Time Aesthetics, board-certified NP Alice Warner designs a personalized Sculptra plan and explains realistic timelines up front. We enhance every session with AnteAge and hyaluronic acid serums for deeper nourishment, plus strong numbing cream so you stay comfortable throughout. Most clients pursue a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart, with a fresh glow visible within days. Suitable for most skin tones and types, microneedling is a powerful, low-downtime way to invest in long-term skin health. Call (602) 882-6343 to book your microneedling consultation.
